Life Budget

The below instruction are to be used in conjunction with the LIFE BUDGET Spreadsheet.  The LIFE BUDGET concept is used by "The Church" to counsel others on Household Budgeting "even a household of one".

  (1)  First, plug in the true monthly take home and monthly expenses.  If there is currently no monthly take home, this document can be used to determine the amount of monthly take home needed and whether part-time or full-time employment is needed.  If there is monthly take home, this document can be used to determine whether or not the Household Budget is balanced.  LIFE BUDGET Spreadsheet is based on a monthly take home of $2,400 which is not true for a lot of people.  These figures prove that minimum wage is only one fourth of what is needed to live on as a single person.

  (2) Second, it is recommended that the 8 Categories of the LIFE BUDGET Spreadsheet not be changed, but it is expected that the detail line items may vary from household to household.  Miscellaneous should not be used as a category (nor as a detailed line item) since miscellaneous is a  "big dark hole" that leaves too much room for error, dishonesty and satan's many temptations.  Discipline is the "key to success", so we must be honest, truthful and disciplined in categorizing all expenses.

  (3) Third, it is recommended that the 8 percentages equal 100% (Car, Clothes, Finances, Food, Health, Home, Leisure and Spiritual).  It is expected that the percentages may vary from household to household, but the total of all 8 percentages should total back to 100%, no more.

  (4) Fourth, monitor what is really taking place in your household for a few months and make adjustments until the house hold comes under budget (100%).  It is recommended that the Monthly Life Budget be reviewed and signed off by all heads of household prior to each month's spending.  Please not that Total Debt should not exceed 40% for Car, Car Equity Loan, Visa, Mortgage and Home Equity Loan.

LIFE BUDGET NOTES:

Children's Expenses (needs) are not different than ours (Car, Clothes, Finances, Food, Health, Home, Leisure and Spiritual) and should be factored into these 8 Categories.

Educational Expenses fall under Leisure since education is a "luxury" item that needs to be valued as highly as other Leisure activities.

Health Insurance is not noted under Health for the simple fact that a lot of people in America function without Health Insurance and those with Health Insurance often have those funds taken out of their monthly paycheck; therefore, those funds are not a part of the monthly take home.  If you pay for Private Health Insurance, please feel free to factor this into a detailed line item.  Encourage others to try a Time of Prayer, Fasting (Liquid Fasts) and Resting prior to visiting a doctor, and to try Christian (Biblically Based) Counseling instead of secular counseling.  If you run a company, consider bringing in Market Place Ministries to address the spiritual counseling needs of your employees.

MINIMUM WAGE:

PROOF that MAJOR PROBLEMS lie in UNDEREMPLOYMENT, not just UNEMPLOYMENT:

CURRENT MINIMUM WAGE: Current Minimum Wage (as of 5/1/2003) =$5.15 per hour.

    ($5.15 X 40 Hours) = $206
($206 X 52 Weeks) = $10,712
($10,712/12 Months) = $892.67 Per Month Before Taxes
($892.67 Per Month Before Taxes X .85) = $758.77 Per Month Take Home After Taxes & Retirement

MINIMUM WAGE NEEDED:  Minimum Wage needs to be 4 X Minimum Wage (4 X $5.15 per hour, rounded $20 for example) just to make ends meet:

    ($20 X 40 Hours) = $800
($800 X 52 Weeks) = $41,600
($41,600/12 Months) = $3,466.67 Per Month Before Taxes
($3,466.67 Per Month Before Taxes X .70) = $2,426.67 Per Month Take Home After Taxes & Retirement

MINIMUM WAGE NOTES:

FEEDBACK:  Responses have been, but "the companies would go out of business" if they had to pay $20 per hour.  Well, what's your solution?  Man has to be paid a Fair Wage (what it takes to live on as a Single Person) OR else God Himself will count it (not paying for a fair wage) as abusive.  Other responses have been "we cannot afford" to pay $20 per hour 40 hours per week, then cut back to 20 hours per work week so employees can spend more time with their families, homes, gardens, churches, schools, communities, entrepreneur and ministry ideas.  Who said we had to work 40 hours per week anyway?  Let answering machines, websites, and email addresses do some of the work and let employees go home after lunch, giving parents time to run errands, do the grocery shopping and make it home in time to be with their children when they get home from school.  Then, if the employees need more money, they can decide for themselves to get a second "part-time" job.  Most households are working 2 jobs just to make ends meet.  Still need to "save the company"?  Then consider not providing insurance (Health, Life, Dental, Disability...), leave the funds in the paycheck and let the employees "do the shopping", but do your part in paying a Fair Wage.

BOTTOM LINE:  We will be held responsible (by God) for exploiting and oppressing God's People, and God Himself will hold us accountable for these actions.  Bless employees, treat them "fairly" with just wages and God Himself will Bless and Supernaturally Provide for us (to His Glory).

Proverbs 31:8-9 - Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.  Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Colossians 4:1 - Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in Heaven.

LIFE BUDGET BIBLE VERSES:

MALACHI 3:6-12 - "I the Lord do not change.  So, O descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.  Ever since the time of your forefathers you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them.  Return to me, and I will return to you," says the Lord Almighty.  "But you ask, 'How are we to return?'"  "Will a man rob God?  Yet you rob me."  "But you ask 'How do we rob you?'"  "In tithes and offerings.  You are under a curse, the whole nation of you, because you are robbing me.  Bring the whole tithe (10%) into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.  Test me in this," says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.  I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit," says the Lord Almighty.  "Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land," says the Lord Almighty.

Mark 12:17 - Then Jesus said to them, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's."  And they were amazed at him.

DEUTERONOMY 14:22 - Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year.

Per Deuteronomy 14:22, for example, if 100 seeds were planted and the cursed ground (ex. Government) only brought forth (to harvest) 70 crops, the Word of God would only expect 7 crops (10% of the harvest).  YES it takes the TITHE to a Local Church for us to prosper in the long run... that means 10% of our time and treasures.  We have to get involved in a Local Church enough to hold them accountable for the services they provide to the community.  We cannot sit back and complain about the Churches, not the Government, we have to get involved and stay involved in both.  Both are run By the People and For the People... so if they are "all messed up"... Well, it is the People's fault for not being more involved.  The Bible says to give to Caesar what is Caesars and to give to God what is Gods... Caesar takes his, but God is a Gentleman... He lets our Free Will Decide... and we are Blessed (or cursed) according to our Free Will Choices.

Prayer:  May our Free Will Choices Continue to BLESS US according to the Covenants and Blessings He has set before us all, In Jesus Name, Amen.
