Being uniquely equipped for works of service proceeds with “being good stewards” of the resources we have available before us, our time, treasures, talents and testimonies.
(7) What does God do for good servants?
Luke 19:17 – “Well done, my good servant!” his master replied. “Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.”
You may not realize how much time you have to offer God until you have had a chance to review Chapter 10, Life Schedule (Time Management, a personal assessment of time usage). Someone once said they did not have time to take their children to church with public school activities and all. Well, maybe their time would be better invested in taking their children to Christian School or Sunday School, for at least a season, so they can be properly introduced to Biblical Principles and the Process of Prayer as an option to life’s issues and personal problems. We must consider wisely how we invest our time and exactly what we are doing with (and to) those God Himself has entrusted to our care. We would not want to exasperate or hinder the little ones (or the little one within ourselves) nor keep them from growing into a personal relationship with their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mark 10:14-16 – When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it. And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.
Luke 11:52 – “Woe to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering.”
Ephesians 6:4 – Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
Think of some time you have to share with God.
Prayer: Dear Lord, Help us to start with giving you 5 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes in the evening, until we desire to give you 10. Thank You Lord as you continue to work with us and take us from increasing to increasing until all we desire is to be in Thy Presence 100% of the time Lord, In Jesus Name, Amen.
(8) What else does God do for good servants?
Malachi 3:10 – Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.
You may not realize how much treasure you have to offer God until you have had a chance to review Chapter 9, Life Budget (Money Management, a personal assessment of money usage). Someone once said they did not have money to tithe. Well, maybe they do not have money because they do not tithe. God (not money) rules the realm of miracles. Why tithe? Why Corporate Church instead of Home Church?
One reason for Corporate Church and tithing is for housing the Levites (our Preachers, Counselors, Pastors, Teachers, Musicians and Students).
Another reason for Corporate Church and tithing is to help the poor and needy. A good, sound Corporate Church will fund a Music Ministry that holds regular (monthly) Music Celebrations where praises are offered up to our God Thanking Him for providing for us and protecting us, while a benevolence offering is taken up and administered by the Elders and Deacons of the church for assisting the poor and needy. How can a small Home Church adequately provide for the enormous needs of their immediate members, let alone any outsides or newcomers?
Another reason for Corporate Church and tithing is for Missions, Missions being New Church Plants and School Plants. The most basic responsibility of the smallest of churches is to plant a school for their children to learn about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then to progress into planting larger schools for educating and maturing children into Adult Christians in an “educating” Church environment, for our Churches are to be Hospitals (Equipping Centers, Counseling Centers, Education Centers and Worship Centers), not Country Clubs.
Deuteronomy 12:11-12 – Then to the place the Lord your God will choose as a dwelling for His Name, there you are to bring everything I command you; your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes and special gifts, and all the choice possessions you have vowed to the Lord. And there rejoice before the Lord your God; you, your sons and daughters, your menservants and maidservants, and the Levites from your towns, who have no allotment or inheritance of their own.
Think of treasures you have to share with God.
Prayer: Dear Lord, Thank You for placing on our hearts and minds something that we have to offer You and help us Lord to do so joyfully, In Jesus Name, Amen.
(9) What else does God do for good servants?
Proverbs 18:16 – A gift opens the way for the giver and ushers him into the presence of the great.
Matthew 2:11 – On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.
You may not realize the talents you have to offer God until you have had a chance to review the remaining Chapters of this study. Someone once said they did not have a talent for the “talent show”. Well, talents with God are not for show as they are with satan and his rule in this fallen world. Talents with God are for servanthood, where the least is the greatest.
Talents are not limited to vocals and instrumentals. Talents include a host of gifts that the Lord Himself has personally deposited into each of us. Maybe they were deposited down through the generations or maybe they were deposited through earnest asking, receiving and cultivation. While some may sing, others may write. While some may dance, others may serve. While some may teach in a “structured” precept, thru the Bible manner, others may counsel in a “question and answer” and testimonial manner. While some may plant, others may organize. While some may be equipped for out-reach, others may be equipped for in-reach. Whatever talents you may have, or desire to have, make sure you enjoy the cultivation process the most, because that is where you will spend most of your time, whether working on yourself or others.
Acts 1:3 – After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit”.
Acts 2:37-39 – When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off; for all whom the Lord our God will call”.
Romans 12:4-8 – Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the other. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
1 Corinthians 12:4-11 – There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.
1 Corinthians 12:28 – And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues.
2 Timothy 1:14 – Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you, guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.
1 Peter 4:10 – Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
Revelation 4:10 – the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne, and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being”.
Revelation 22:17 – The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.
Think of talents you have to share with God.
Prayer: Dear Lord, as our gifts begin to spring forth, we notice a deep desire to give them back to You in service to You and to others. May be greatest gift we have to offer You be a deep desire for the Truth. May The Spirit of Truth rest upon us and keep us pure, holy and acceptable in Your sight as You cause us to be fruitful and to multiple the gifts you have entrusted in our care, for our enjoyment, for Your Glory Lord, In Jesus Name, Amen.
(10) How should you season your testimony?
You may not realize the testimony you have to offer God until you hear or experience testimonies in your group meetings.
Talents are what we do. Testimonies are what we say. Testimonies are the time we spend sharing experiences, strength and hope; all of which come from and rest with Him. Nothing is more important than what we have to say. Consider how you use your tongue. Our tongues should remain seasoned with the testimony of Jesus Christ until the Gospel is spread to the end of the earth, then he will come.
Exodus 34:29 – When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord.
Exodus 40:20 – He took the Testimony and placed it in the ark, attached the poles to the ark and put the atonement cover over it.
Exodus 20:16 – You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
Matthew 15:19 – For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.
John 2:24-25 – But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all men. He did not need man’s testimony about man, for he knew what was in a man.
Matthew 24:14 – And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
John 3:11 – I tell you the truth, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony.
John 3:32-36 – He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. The man who has accepted it has certified that God is truthful. For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit. The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.
John 4:39 – Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did”.
Colossians 4:6 – Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
1 Timothy 2:5-7 – For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men, the testimony given in its proper time. And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle, I am telling the truth, I am not lying, and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles.
2 Corinthians 13:1 – This will be my third visit to you. “Every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses”.
1 John 5:5-12 – Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. This is the one who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. We accept man’s testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
Romans 10:9 – That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
1 Corinthians 12:3 – Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed”, and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord”, except by the Holy Spirit.
Revelation 19:9-10 – Then the angel said to me. “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!’ ” And he added, “These are the true words of God”. At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy”.
Philippians 2:12-16 – Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life, in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing.
Do you have a desire to examine your time, treasures, talents and testimonies to see what you have to offer God in service to Him and others?
Do you believe He will meet you where you are and work with you as you cultivate your offerings?
Prayer: Dear Lord Thank You for going before us and making a way
where there does not seem to be a way. Thank You for Your promise
to work with us in Your kind and gentle way as we submit ourselves
to Your Way and Your Will for the details of our lives, In Jesus
